Wolf Spider
A fantastic close-up of one of the many variable (and often hard to correctly identify) wolf spiders of North America, as it hunts during the daytime on a hot springtime afternoon in the Rio Grande Valley in the Southern tip of Texas. This one goes by the scientific name, Hogna antelucana, and is one of the most common wolf spiders to be found in Texas.
