Mountain Lady's-Slipper (Cypripedium montanum forma welchii)
An exquisitely rare find for even such a rare and beautiful native orchid in its natural environment! This unusual crimson-lipped form (forma welchii) of the mountain lady's-slipper was found alongside a small colony of the typical white-lipped individuals in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness of on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains in Washington State.
